At St. Philip we recognize that the soul of the apostolate, the lifeblood of all ministry, is love of God and union with Him. Many practices and devotions are geared both to personal spiritual growth and to intercession for others. Parishioners are encouraged to join together to pray for their own intentions and those of the parish, community, archdiocese, country, Church and the world. Some of the greatest saints considered their ministry to be representing humanity in prayer before God.
In the seventeenth century, Jesus appeared several times to St. Margaret Mary. He made both a request and an extraordinary promise: “I promise you in the excessive mercy of my Heart that its all-powerful love will grant to all those who receive Holy Communion on nine first Fridays of consecutive months the grace of final repentance; they will not die under my displeasure or without receiving their sacraments,
my divine Heart making itself their assured refuge at the last moment.”
To fulfill the First Friday requirements, a person must, on each First Friday for nine consecutive months fulfill three requirements: Participate in Mass, receive Holy Communion and go to confession (within eight days, before or after First Friday). At St. Philip, we also pray the rosary before the start of Mass. To learn more about the First Friday devotion, see here: Link
“A Holy Hour before the Most Blessed Sacrament so pleases the Heart of Jesus, that every man, woman and child on earth receives a new effect of God’s graces” (St. Faustina). At St. Philip, parishioners have the opportunity to spend time in solemn Eucharistic Adoration every
Thursday, following morning Mass. Currently, the Blessed Sacrament is exposed from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

The goal of this ministry is to intercede on behalf of our pastor. “The Seven Sisters Apostolate is a call to strengthen the Church by ensuring that a Holy Hour is prayed each day of the week for the sole intention of a specific priest or bishop – a ‘holy wasting’ (cf. Mt. 26:19) or lavishing of prayer for his deeper conformity to Christ.” Link
A core group of seven women commit to making an hour of adoration (each person commits for a specific day of the week) for a full year. More women can also commit, but the minimum is seven. If a person cannot fulfill the commitment, she asks a substitute to do so.
