    • St. Philip offers parishioners many opportunities to be involved in the life of the parish.
We welcome all to be a part of the celebration of the Mass through our Lay Ministry.

Most parishioners find that joining one of our groups or ministries greatly enhances their bond with fellow parishioners and experience in the parish.  Please take some time to look through all St. Philip has to offer.

Ministry meetings are held at St. Philip in the parish hall or classrooms.  Contact information can be found at the church entrance or by following the link below.

      MINISTRY CONTACTS

    • Liturgical Ministers
      • Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion:

Offering Holy Communion during the Mass is truly a privileged ministry. It is the ministry of bringing the sacrament of the Body and Blood of Christ to the people of God. It also witnesses o faith in the Real Presence of Jesus Christ as our faith community shares in the Eucharistic sacrifice. The ministry should, therefore, be treated with the utmost dignity and reverence.

Baptized and confirmed lay Catholic men and women of at least 18 years of age (or high school senior) are eligible for this ministry. They should be persons who sincerely try to live the Gospel message in their communal and individual lives.

        Lectors:
Lay Readers give voice to God's presence in the Liturgy of the Word by proclaiming Sacred Scripture in the celebration of Mass. Individuals who desire to bring alive the power of God's Word and love to study and pray with the Bible are welcome.

Training and support are provided. The preparation time of prayer, study, and practice are needed for each scheduled reading.

    • Children's Liturgy of the Word
      • St. Philip 8:30 Sunday Mass, special liturgy participation and discussion.
We are always looking for new volunteers in order for this ministry to be successful!
    • Choir Ministry
      • If you enjoy singing and/or playing a musical instrument, join the Heavenly Chorus in the celebration of the Eucharist. Join us in praising God and giving thanks! You may feel called to the music ministry, but are unsure if you have the talent or skills to do so. Know that God is not known for inviting only the “equipped”. Rather, He equips the “called”.
    • Usher Ministry
      • Ushers and greeters are the welcoming face and hands of Christ. Ours is a ministry of hospitality, welcome and support for the faith community which gathers at the parish campus for worship and fellowship.

Ushers and greeters have many responsibilities before, during and after liturgical celebrations. We carefully train and support our new members in learning and practicing what they are expected to do. In addition to serving during Sunday Masses and holy days of obligation, they may be called upon to assist at baptisms, weddings, funerals and other faith community celebrations.

Ushers serve our pastor, ministers and parishioners by welcoming parishioners and guests, encouraging peace and tranquility in the worship area, securing our faith community’s financial gifts, monitoring children in busy campus areas, inspecting the parking lot, safeguarding the Eucharist during Mass, and putting the campus “at rest”.

The open and loving embrace of our family environment is strengthened when people are involved; when they look around and help as the need arises. All men, women, and high school youth of our parish are invited to join our usher corp. The more who share in this work, the more enjoyable the ministry becomes.
