The Holy Mass, or Eucharistic Celebration, is the central act of worship in the Catholic Faith. In each Mass, Christ offers Himself to the Father on our behalf. He renews the sacrifice of the cross in an unbloody manner right before our eyes. During the consecration, He becomes really and truly present under the appearances of bread and wine. He calls us to ever greater union with Him through worthy reception of Holy Communion.
During Mass, more than at any other time during our lives, we are more closely united with the angels and saints in heaven because we are joined with them around the throne of Christ, the Lamb. With them, we sing “Holy, holy, holy” and we partake in the Lamb's feast. Where the angels and saints are now, we some day hope to be.
