Offering Holy Communion during the Mass is truly a privileged ministry. It is the ministry of bringing the sacrament of the Body and Blood of Christ to the people of God. It also witnesses to faith in the Real Presence of Jesus Christ as our faith community shares in the Eucharistic sacrifice. The ministry should, therefore, be treated with the utmost dignity and reverence.
Baptized and confirmed lay Catholic men and women of at least 18 years of age (or high school senior) are eligible for this ministry. They should be persons who sincerely try to live the Gospel message in their communal and individual lives. All lay ministers are obliged to observe the following diocesan requirements for “good standing” in ministry:
Candidates for the extraordinary ministry of Holy Communion are to be properly trained in the parish and receive delegation from the archbishop’s office to serve at St. Philip. Please call our St. Philip parish office (281) 324-1478 if you are interested in this ministry.
