This year’s Christmas Eve Nativity Pageant was truly special and a much-needed reprieve from the trials that we have all shared together and endured in 2020. This Christmas Eve was an especially true gift to St. Philip parish as we were back in our Church after recovering from another flood restoration and being amid a worldwide pandemic. To see our children and families healthy, safe, and bringing to life, in a beautiful display, the absolute joy of Jesus’ birth, was truly a Christmas miracle this year!
Our worldwide pandemic did bring about one blessing: more of our parish families were celebrating Christmas at home this year instead of traveling. This allowed for higher participation from our children than in years past. To ensure our Nativity Pageant success, we held two rehearsals, the two weekends prior to Christmas Eve. The rehearsals consisted of casting roles, outfitting costumes, and running through the play multiple times to ensure perfect timing. Our second rehearsal also had the pleasure of having our Music Director, Geri Moulds, attend to enrich our pageant with music, which plays such an intimate part in telling the story. The blend of music, pageantry and our children’s smiling faces illuminated all the beauty of the Nativity on Christmas Eve and in our daily lives.
Special thanks to our Nativity Pageant Coordinators, Heather Wehking and Anne Bednarak, along with their team of helpers: Becky Pursell, Suzanne Burch, and Nikki Metzler for the time and dedication in celebrating Christmas through the eyes of our children! Lastly, big thanks to all our children who participated and made this a cherished gift from our Holy Family and a memorable celebration of the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
The young parishioners of St. Philip had their first practice for the Christmas Eve Nativity Pageant. We were so happy to see all their smiling faces. Thank you to the parents who volunteered! We are so excited to watch these kids retell the story of Jesus' birth.
There is still time to be a part of this beautiful event. All youth, grades K-12, of the parish, are invited to participate. Our last practice is Saturday, Dec. 19 from 9:30 am-11:00 am.

On Sunday, December 6, Fr. Barker got the chance to visit our first-grade class. We were so excited to have him sit and talk with us. The first graders got a chance to show Father their progress on their Rosary Cross Journey. He prayed the rosary with us at the end of class. Thank you Fr. Barker!
We are glad to be starting our new CCE year at our beautiful St. Philip campus. The rooms are ready to go, the Bibles are waiting to be read, and your rosaries are ready to be prayed. We are just waiting for you to return! Our Catechists have missed you all during this extended break.
Parents– Please consider being a part of this important ministry! The following classes are in need of Catechists: 3rd grade, 4th/5th combined class, 8th grade, and high school. We have amazing resources for your use and a group of dedicated Catechists to help get you started. For more information email Becky at bpursell@stphilip.cc
Any necessary Covid protocols will be in place.
All parents will be asked to volunteer during 1-2 (more if you’d like!) CCE classes. Your child’s CCE program is run purely by parent volunteers. We CAN NOT be successful without the help of all parents. This is especially true for our Wednesday night class, where your help is especially critical. Religious education is an important class for your child and we need you to be as involved as you are with their daily schooling. We are looking forward to working with all of you. This will be a beautiful way to share your love of Christ and your own faith journey with your children.
We are happy to offer online registration this year! All forms and payments will be completed using the online link provided. Once submitted, there is no need to stop by the registration table. We hope this will streamline the process and ensure accurate information. If you need assistance, we will have limited forms available on registration weekend (Aug. 22-23 & Aug. 29-30) and will be taking payment (cash, check, & CC).
