Snapshot: Lenten Journey—Fellowship In his dialogue Timaeus, pondering the world’s creation, the philosopher Plato wrote, “Time is the moving image of eternity.” We Christians say the Church is the image of God’s heaven. What we see and know as the good here on earth points to the greater beauty and splendor of God’s realm, the home of the heavenly angels and all the saints. This great truth was revealed last Friday in the families who gathered for the evening celebration of Mass, the Way of the Cross and our Lenten feast in the parish hall. The evening’s Mass scriptures urged us to remain faithful to our Christian teachings. And to heal broken relationships. The Way of the Cross highlighted Jesus’ indescribable sorrow for people who reject everything he has done for them: “What more should I have done, and did not do? Answer me.” Our evening finished with a splendid fish fry banquet hosted by the Knights of Columbus and their wives. The hall was decorated, the food great and everyone lingered, enjoying each other’s company. Together we celebrated life and each other as a community of faith. Everyday faith events and activities are windows by which we may observe, however imperfectly, the perfect community of the Holy Trinity in heaven. Christians are ordinary human beings who possess a great secret. “God loves a cheerful giver”. Give laughter to friends, love to family, respect to our country, devotion to the Church and alms to the poor. One last thing, join us for Lenten Mass and Stations every Friday evening. Our next fish fry is April 01. Father Barker. +++
